‘Singh Is King’ – Yuvraj Slams Ton Plus, Dhoni Unstoppable Piling Runs For India
India wins by 15 runs taking 2-0 lead in ODI series against England | Yuvraj 150 (127 balls), Dhoni 134 (127 balls), Ashwin 3 wickets, Bumrah 2 wickets
India – 381/6
England – 366/8
Man of the Match – Yuvraj Singh (150 off 127 balls with 21 fours and 3 sixes)
Yuvraj Singh’s 150 and MS Dhoni’s 134 in the Cuttack clash left England squad no choice but to start playing rigid cricket from the first ball.
The extraordinary 256 partnership of Singh and Dhoni posted 381 for six in the first innings of the second ODI, urging England for a monumental chase.
It was tough to predict in the three hours and two minutes time period that this was a 35-year-old comeback man on the crease who was batting to prove a point, and at least to prove to himself. Time travel became a reality in Cuttak as he cut, pulled and drove like his younger days in ODIs.
Following cancer battle after 2011 World Cup the biggest challenge for Yuvraj Singh was to manage his fitness levels. Compared to the 29-year-old man who was part of the World Cup winning team the returning in 30s is like competing at the highest level.
He flicked away several back of length deliveries from Jake Ball to the square leg fence. The fuller deliveries too was hit away in the same way. He got connected to his favored scoring areas and the shots reminded Yuvraj was in the mood.
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni eclipsed Sachin Tendulkar with 196 sixes against 195. He became the 5th player to hit 200 sixes in ODIs. Yuvraj has overtaken the master blaster with 1478 runs in 35 innings against England.
