Sridevi Worked Hard Since Childhood: Kamal Hassan

Sridevi was talented and hardworking, said actor Kamal Hassan, the first ever co-star of the legendary actress whose sudden demise Saturday night in Dubai has shocked Bollywood describing it as “unbelievable.”

The most celebrated actress in India worked hard since her childhood and she learnt every day, added Hassan.

He added, “Just one month before I met her. We both are not great at showing emotions but somehow we both hugged each other.”

Hassan and Sridevi produced some of the greatest hits in Tamil cinema in the 1970s and the movies include Gaayathri, Priya and Kaavikuyil.

Her last screen appearance was 2017’s Mom and she made her return back to the Hindi cinema with the hit movie English Vinglish in 2012 after a break of fifteen long years for being occupied in personal life, taking care of husband, producer Boney Kapoor and upbringing their two daughters, Jhanvi and Khushi.

Sridevi won five Filmfare Awards government of India awarded her Padma Shri in 2013.

She received critical acclaim for her performance films in Sadma (1983), ChaalBaaz (1989), Lamhe (1991), and Gumrah (1993). In the early 1980s she has given several box-office hits including Mawaali (1983), Tohfa (1984), Mr India (1987) and Chandni (1989).

Known for spectacular roles in films like Sadma, Chandni, Khuda Gawah and Mr India, Sridevi is regarded as the first female superstar of Bollywood.
