Taj Mahal complex getting makeover ahead of Trump’s visit

United States President Donald Trump will be in India on his two-day official visit and ahead of it a makeover work is in progress in Agra with fresh coat of paints as well as water being released into the river Yamuna.

The president’s visit will begin in Ahmedabad on Monday and he with First Lady Melania Trump will be attending “Namaste, Trump” event at a newly-built cricket stadium in the city.

The two will be visiting Taj Mahal, one of the world’s most beautiful monuments, in Agra before reaching Delhi.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath visited Agra simultaneously with a team of US security officials in Agra to review the arrangement.

Fountains inside the Taj Mahal complex were seen being cleaned today. Media footage revealed the pathways too were getting a makeover.

Archaeological Survey of India has pointed out strict guidelines for the repair and restoration of monuments in India and it is followed while cleaning the complex of Taj Mahal too.

Meanwhile, all the shops outside the complex need to use uniform government-mandated signboards.

A senior police officer Botre Rohan Pramod said, “All the houses, shops, restaurants and hotels on the main route and near the Taj Mahal area have been identified. The verification process is about to finish. Some teams have also been for getting the verification done.”
