It is being debated whether Telangana State Assembly will be dissolved on Sunday following Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s cabinet meeting. Views of opposition parties are divided and recommendation would be binding on the Governor.

Telangana Assembly May Be Dissolved

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) believes TRS will not opt for early polls as eight months are still left from the term to complete and adding if plans are to hold polls a President’s rule in the state would be requested.

Meanwhile, the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) said they can face polls any day provided it is requested to the Election Commission to revise Telangana’s voter list

BJP spokesperson Krishna Sagar Rao said, “We don’t think it’s a possibility as we don’t see pre-polls possible for a government almost eight months prior to its regular term. The elections for the four states in the country are due in the 3rd and 5th week of November this year. There is not enough time for the Election Commission (EC) to incorporate Telangana in its election roster.”

He added that the agenda of his party for simultaneous election is still on.

About the reaction of his party if the assembly is dissolved he said a President’s rule will be demanded as a caretaker CM cannot run for 8 months.

TPCC Chief Uttam Kumar Reddy said they are ready to face polls any day.
