Trump warns Pakistan to stop providing safe haven to terrorists

China has repeatedly supported Pakistan to avoid global censure on the UN Security Council resolutions to deny safe havens to terrorists using its veto power.

Earlier, following the Pulwama attack on February 14 that killed more than 40 CRPF jawans, the White House said, “India has right to self-defense against the cross-border terrorism.”

US National Security Advisor John Bolton supported India’s self-defense over Pulwama attack in a telephonic conversation with Indian counterpart Ajit Doval.

Jaish-e-Mohammed leader Masood Azhar is in Pakistan under government protection and China has been repeatedly thwarting efforts of United Nations in designating him a global terrorist.

China is Pakistan’s ally and its move is in consideration to the protection of Beijin’s economic investments in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

More elaborate statement from the White House in the matter is expected to come soon.

Trump said, “We will have a comment at an appropriate time. It would be wonderful if they get along.”

State Department’s Deputy Spokesperson Robert Palladino said, “We are committed to working with India, the Indian government, and on these counterterrorism efforts, both bilaterally and multilaterally, including at the United Nations.”
