Twitter To Lift 140-Character Limit
Creativity on Twitter now to have more options as the social platform decides to stop counting the 140 characters tweet. More room will be gien to tweets, photos and links. Users to get more space to write little bit more.
It has not been officially announced but Bloomberg reports citing a close source to the matter. The change may take place within next two weeks, if believed to the news media.
CBS News writes Twitter has declined to comment on the matter when asked for confirmation.
This is not the first time Twitter has been speculated to be lifting the limit of 140 characters. Earlier this year in January Recode reported users may in future get 10,000 characters space to tweet.
The Twitter Direct Message offers the same maximum length.
If believed to the sources, the project related to the lifting up of the 140 characters limit is referred as “Beyond 140.”
Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said, “At its core, Twitter is public messaging. A simple way to say something, to anyone, that everyone in the world can see instantly,” Dorsey tweeted out in a message. “We didn’t start Twitter with a 140 character restriction. We added that early on to fit into a single SMS message (160 characters).”
