Two JeM terrorists arrested in Uttar Pradesh

Anti-Terror Squad of Uttar Pradesh police arrested Friday two suspects believed to be members of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed terror outfit. Both the men are from Jammu and Kashmir state.

Identified as Shahnawaz Ahmad, one of the arrested is a resident of Kulgam in the state and his had been tasked with recruitment part for the terrorist group. He is a grenade expert too.

The other suspect is Aqib Ahmad Malik and is a resident of Pulwama district, the place where JeM militants attacked convoy of Indian CRPF jawans on February 14 and killed more than forty of them.

Both were arrested from Deoband area of Western Uttar Pradesh with a handgun and bullets. The place is well known for several Islamic seminaries and educational institutions.

Uttar Pradesh police chief OP Singh said, “It is difficult to say whether the two men came before the Pulwama attack or after that and whether they were linked to it… we have evidence of Jaish connections that we can’t share right now.”

Suggesting both the suspects were linked with Pulwama attack the state chief minister Yogi Adityanath said, “We conducted an operation in Uttar Pradesh last night. We received a few links related to the Pulwama attack in connection with which we did a big operation in Uttar Pradesh last night.”

Meanwhile, describing the Pulwama attack as a horrible situation United States president Donald Trump warned Pakistan to stop giving safe havens and support for terrorist groups.
