Vietnam Detains Anti-China Protestors
Vietnam has detained anti-China protestors gathered Sunday in central Hanoi rallying support for an international tribunal’s ruling rejecting claims at the South China sea by Beijing.
Heavy police presence was seen around the landmark Hoan Kiem Lake and many Vietnamese were taken away in buses even before they began their protest.
No-U group orgnaized the rally to oppose the Chinese claims in the South China sea.
Meanwhile, Vietnam strongly protested Thursday the activities of China very recently in the disputed sea citing it violated their sovereignty.
According to Chinese state media, two of their civilian aircraft landed on Mischief and Subi reefs, newly built airstrips, on Wednesday claiming to have completed four lighthouses and was launching a fifth one.
The UN arbitration tribunal thereafter said the territorial claims by China are violating International maritime law.
Vietnam Foreign Ministry spokesman Le Hai Binh asked China to cease their actions that has resulted with complicating situation.
