Web series on Modi streaming on Eros Now website; EC to lodge FIR

Web series called Modi is being streamed on the website of Eros Now and this seems to be something without proper release certification. Delhi Chief Electoral Officer has raised the issue to poll panel mentioning the ban of biopic movie PM Narendra Modi is also affective on any film and TV show of political leaders during the Lok Sabha elections.

According to the CEO the web series on Modi was streaming without certification from the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC).

The web series went on air before the ban was imposed on the movie and all the episodes are now made available on the Eros Now website.

It is learned the District Election Officer (DEO) (East) has written to the Delhi CEO asking to lodge an FIR against Eros Now if proper MCMC certification has not been given.

The web series has ten parts. It is directed by Umesh Shukla, who has a good name in the industry for directing popular films like OMG: Oh My God.

Meanwhile, a film on former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri titled The Tashkent Files was released on Friday after proper certification was issued as it was not classified as a biopic.

The biopic was scheduled to be released on April 11 and was to coincide with first phase of Lok Sabha elections. Amid model code of conduct the EC placed a blanket ban on release of such movies including one on NTR.
