What Bihar Achieved Under Nitish Kumar
Bihar’s gross domestic product (GDP) under CM Nitish Kumar has been steadily increasing since 2005-06. However, the high growth in percentage is due to the low base.
The per capita income of the state was 29.2 percent of the all-India figure. It increased to 38.9 percent in 2013-14 percent. Tagged as always a poor state, the position of Bihar improved significantly.
The rate of growth in agriculture too increased as majority of the people in Bihar make a living from agriculture and allied activities.
More to all these, the rate of reduction of poverty reduced significantly too between 2004-05 and 2011-12.
The life expectancy of people in the state is also higher than the all-India average even Bihar is tagged as a poor state.
Under Nitish Kumar leadership the government expenditure has been mainly focused on development. It is to take the note the state is also good at spending in the capital expenditure and social sector.
To wrap up it is for sure the development record under Nitish Kumar has been commendable. However, it is to remember too that just development cannot make him win the elections. The other factors working in this election are money, beef wars, caste calculations, desire for change and religious consolidation as well.
