Why Yuvi, Gauti, Zaheer and Bhajji Are Left Out of 2015 India’s World Cup Squad?
The first list of 30 probables for the forthcoming 2015 Cricket World Cup was announced by the BCCI last Thursday and the popular team players of the 20111 world cup winning squad have bit the dust this time round. Seniors like Gautam Gambhir, Virendra Sehwag, Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh have not been considered in the 30 men probable list by the selectors. The fans of these great cricketers are really shocked by this decision taken by the selectors.
The Indian captain M S Dhoni always believes in fielding a young team for the shorter versions of the game, be it T20s or one day internationals. It looks like the Indian team selectors are also thinking the same.
The most shocking is the omission of Yuvraj Singh, who was the Player of the Tournament in the 2011 World Cup in India and was responsible for taking the Indian cricket to World Cup glory. Zaheer Khan was the best bowler in the Indian team during the 2011 World Cup and was also the leading wicket taker for India. Harbhajan, Sehwag and Gambhir also played their part during the World Cup tournament and helped India to enter the finals and win it.
The main reason behind this decision could be the poor form that these cricketers have been showing off late. Gautam played his last one day on January 27, 2013 against England in Dharamsala and scored 24 runs. His last test was also against England at the Oval in August where he had poor scores of 0 and 3 runs.
Yuvraj Singh played his last one day on December 5th, 2013 against South Africa in Johannesburg and scores a duck. His last test innings was against England in 2012 at Kolkata, where he scored only 32 and 11 runs.
Sehwag’s last one day innings was against Pakistan in Kolkata where he scored 31 runs on January 3, 2013 and his last test innings was against Australia in Hyderabad on 2nd March, 2013 and he scored 6 runs there.
Harbhajan Singh played his last one day international way back on June 11, 2011 against West Indies in Antigua and had bowling figures of 1/24. His last test match against Australia in Hyderabad in March 2013 saw him return with bowling figures of 2/52 and 0/10.
Zaheer Khan had his last one day international in Sri Lanka in August 2012 and his last test was against New Zealand in Wellington in February 2014 with bowling figures of 1/53 and 0/57, 5/170 respectively.
