Yogi Adityanath Is The Next Chief Minister Of Uttar Pradesh

The next chief minister of Uttar Pradesh will be Yogi Adityanath. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced Saturday with nomination of state unit chief Keshav Prasad Maurya and Lucknow mayor Dinesh Sharma as deputy chief ministers.

The oath taking ceremony is scheduled to be held on Sunday.

Following the election results it was rumored the top brass of BJP would pick Minister of State for Telecom Manoj Sinha as the chief minister of UP as he has large experience in the party operations.

It was also rumored union ministers Kalraj Mishra, Lucknow mayor Dinesh Sharma and Keshav Prasad Maurya could be the fittest for the top post of Uttar Pradesh.

Yogi Adityanath has represented Gorakhpur in the Lok Sabha since 1998. He has been five time member of Parliament.

The 44-year-old firebrand leader was born in 1972 in a Kshatriya family in Garhwal, Uttarakhand. Since 1994 he has been mahant of Gorakhnath temple. At the age of 26 he contested for Lok Sabha election for the first time in his life and won with good votes. Since then he has never been defeated in following four elections, upto the 2014 election.

He is widely popular among Hindu voters and in 2009 he had asked the Centre to pass a bill to ban cow slaughter. He also demanded later to ban on forced religious conversions.
