It was the biggest win of India against Pakistan in terms of number of wickets lost. It was a 9-wicket win. Captain Rohit Sharma finished 111 not out with seven 4s and four 6s in 119 balls. Shikhar Dhawan hit 114 runs with sixteen 4s and two 6s in 100 balls before being run out by Hasan Ali. Ambati Rayudu scored 12 in 18 runs hitting one 4s.

Rohit and Dhawan completed their tons quickly. When one wicket was lost, India was just 18 runs away from the target of 238 runs.

Rohit was playing his 19th ODI while it was the 15th for Dhawan. The Dubai crowd cheered aloud as the two were the best opening pair in the Asia Cup 2018.

Meanwhile, it is also being said the pair has surpassed Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag by becoming the second msot successful India opening pair in ODIs.

The two have made 13 hundre-plus opening partnership. Tendulkar and Ganguly made 21 between 1996 and 2007. Next to them are Gilchrist and Hayden of Australia with 16 hundred-plus opening partnership between 2001 and 2008 while the West Indians Greenidge and Haynes made 15 such records between 1979 and 1991. The Sehwag and Tendulkar pair made 12 hundred-plus opening partnership between 2001 and 2012.

Pakistan decided to bat first knowing conditions wold favor batsmen batting second.
