Following the landmark historic verdict of Supreme Court on Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute former archaeologist KK Muhammed said the bench has given ultimate judgement and nothing better could have come out than this.

Muhammed headed the North Division of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and was part of the 10-memeber excavation team that undertook work at the disputed Babri Masjid site in Ayodhya. He is a postgraduate diploma student in 1976-77 and retired from ASI in 2012. He is currently living a retired life near Kozhikode.

The five-bench of Supreme Court headed by the outgoing Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, CJI-designate SA Bobde and Justices S A Nazeer, Ashok Bhushan and DY Chandrachud directed the Centre to form a trust in next three months time period that will be responsible for building a temple at the Ram Janmabhoomi disputed site of 2.77 acres in Ayodhya.

The apex court added the Sunni Waqf Board is to be given a 5-acre land by the Centre in Ayodhya for the construction of a mosque.

Muhammed said, “When this wrong act of the rulers is justified, then one becomes part of the original sin. Now I am extremely happy and deeply satisfied with what happened today.”
