IPL 2020 auction: Pat Cummins most expensive player, KKR buys for Rs 15.5 Crore

The five most expensive players at the IPL 2020 auction in Kolkata are Pat Cummins, Glenn Maxwell, Chris Morris, Sheldon Cottrell and Nathan Coulter-Nile. A total of 338 players went under the hammer today and 62 were sold at the table. An amount of Rs 140.3 Crore were spent by the eight franchises.

KKR bought Pat Cummins

Kolkata Knight Riders outbid Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore to buy the most expensive Pat Cummins for Rs 15.5 Crore. Previously the record was held by Ben Stokes, who was bought in 2017 by Rising Pune Supergiant for Rs 14.5 Crore.

He was part of the KKR team in 2014 and 2015. In 2017 he played for Delhi and last year for Mumbai Indians.

KKR coach Brandon McCullum said, “I thought he was the best player of the auction… as a cricketer he’s grown, his body has become robust. He is now the vice-captain of Australia cricket team, which is a mark of his development. Wonderful to secure a world-class player.”

Kings XI Punjab bought Glenn Maxwell

Kings XI Punjab bought Glenn Maxwell for Rs 10.75 Crore. He has become the second expensive player in the IPL 2020 auction.

RCB bought Chris Morris

Royal Challengers Bangalore bought Chris Morris for Rs 10 Crore. Rajasthan Royals initially showed interest to get the South African all-rounder but was left behind after RCB and KXIP went into a bidding war.

Kings XI Punjab bought Sheldon Cottrell

KXIP bought the left-arm pacer Sheldon Cottrell for Rs 8.5 Crore.

Mumbai Indians bought Nathan Coulter-Nile

Mumbai Indians bought the Australian pacer for Rs 8 Crore.
