Javed Akhtar credited even with no contribution to Modi’s biopic

Bollywood lyricist Javed Akhtar said Friday he has not contribution in the upcoming biopic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi yet he has been credited for writing a song.

Trailer of the biopic was launched online on Thursday and it is learned there are seven lyricists including Akhtar. The other lyricists are Prasoon Joshi, Sameer, Abhendra Kumar Upadhyay, Sardaraa, Parry G and Lavraj.

Director Omung Kumar is credited for his direction and his name appears as Omung Kumar B while actor Vivek Oberoi is learned to have contributed with screenplay and dialogue.

Kumar has earlier directed biopics like Sarbjit and Mary Kom. He said the new biopic will traverse the journey of Narendra Modi from beginnings to the year when he became the prime minister of India.

Javed Akhtar tweeted, “Am shocked to find my name on the poster of this film. Have not written any songs for it!”

In less than 24 hours of release the biopic has been viewed more than 10 million times. The movie is scheduled to hit the screens on April 5. It stars Boman Irani Manjoj Joshi, Prashant Narayanan, Barkha Sengupta, Anjan Shrivastav and Zarina Wahab.
