Modi first choice as PM: CVOTER-IANS survey

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is still the first choice of people to see him as the leader of India, reveals latest survey of CVOTER-IANS conducted on April 19.

A total of 11,192 people were quizzed whom they want to see as the next prime minister of the country and 56.83 percent responded favoring Modi.

The second choice is Congress President Rahul Gandhi with 21.65 percent of votes.

Before the poll process started a similar survey found Modi was the first choice then too. His popularity has continued even after the second round of polling.

In the first week of March the popularity of Modi peaked 60 percent mark and thereafter continued dominating the charts.

Rahul Gandhi has been distant second since the first survey before the elections started. He has maintained his static position.

In states like Gujarat, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana seeing Modi as the prime minister was found among 70 percent of respondents.

Meanwhile, in his elections campaign lately Modi accused Congress of stamping Hindus with terrorist tag. He was referring to Malegaon blast accused Pragya Singh Thakur, who has filed nomination on Bharatiya Janata Party ticket from Bhopal.

He also called the ties of Bahujan Samajwadi Party and Samajwadi Party as fake friendship which will come to an end on May 23, the result day of Lok Sabha elections.
