Outdoor Activities for Spring and Summer

Spread the love

Go on a nature walk to get in touch with nature and enjoy newly sprouting plant life. This can be especially romantic for couples looking to spend some time outdoors together. Pack a picnic and blanket or bring a book to relax with. If kids are tagging along, bring a jar to let them collect and release butterflies or other wildlife. Not only are these treks fun, but they are healthy too: a nature walk burns more calories than typical city walking at approximately 170 calories an hour for a 150 pound person.

Find a fun child-like game to play outdoors with friends and family. Some favorites include hide-and-seek, ladder golf, frisbee and tag. Fire up the grill during the games and enjoy some hotdogs or steaks.

For many, there is no better pastime than star-gazing on a clear spring night. Find a high point outside of town that offers panoramic views, then lay back and enjoy nature’s best show. If no high areas are accessible, lay a blanket out in an open field or on a trampoline away from lights and sounds.

Baseball is considered an American pastime. Find a major league game going on or support the local teams. Buy some peanuts and cracker jacks and enjoy nine innings of rooting for the home team. Make it special by grabbing a picture with the team mascot.
