A bench comprising of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices AM Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud will hear the plea of the two BJP-led states which are seeking for the ban of Padmaavat in their states.

Taking support of the Cinematograph Act the governments of both the states have moved to the Supreme Court on the grounds of law and order.

Earlier version of the court, as on January 18, said no state government would disallow the release of Padmaavat on January 25.

Meanwhile, the film has been facing protests by groups like Karni Sena in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan alleging historical facts are distorted in Padmavaat.

The earlier scheduled release date of the move was on December 1.

January 26 is Friday and the film is expecting a good collection by releasing a day ahead of long weekend. It will clash with Akshay Kumar starrer Padman.

Akshay Kumar has shrugged down of any competition with Padmaavat saying it will be a long weekend and all the movies can come.

CBFC has given a U/A certification to Padmaavat.
