Hero MotoCorp is the largest two wheeler manufacturer in the world. Presently the company makes and sells 20 models of bikes. The Hero brand is the top selling brand in the Indian two-wheeler market especially in 100 cc commuter bike segment. The top selling bike from Hero MotoCorp is the 100 cc bike Splendor which tops the list of the best selling bikes in India with a sales figure of 2,23,765 units in August  2014 for example. The Hero passion another 100cc bike has a sales figure of 1.17,618 units for August 2014. At the third spot are the HF series bikes with a sales figure of 91,748 units for August 2014.

The variants

The Splendor model was launched originally in 1994 in India. The Splendor Plus model came in 2004 and the Splendor Pro model in 2007. In 2014 the Splendor iSmart was launched. The Splendor Super a 125 cc bike launched in 2004 was refreshed in 2013. Presently there are seven 100 cc variants and one 125 cc variant of the Splendor. The 100 cc variants are the NXG, the PRO black alloy, the Pro kick alloy, Plus kick spoke, Plus Kick alloy, iSmart and Pro self alloy.


The price of the Hero Splendor on road price is from 43,500 to 49,300. The transmission is 4 speed manual. The weight varies from 109 kg to 112 kg. The 97 cc, 7.8 ps engine gives mileages from 79 kmpl to 83 kmpl. The Splendor iSmart launched in 2014 incorporates the i3s technology which stops the engine while idling, saving fuel. The Splendor Super is a 124 cc bike with ABS.


The Hero Passion launched in 2001has variants priced Rupees 45,250 for the kick start and 48,200 for the self start versions. The fuel system is variable venturi carburetor type with TCIS ignition. The Passion XPRO has a 109.1 cc engine with kick and self starts and is priced from Rupees 47,400 to 52,300. The Passion PRO TR launched in 2014has a price of Rupees 53,530 and has disc type brakes (240 mm) at the front and drum type (130 mm) at the rear.

The HF Dawn the cheapest 100 cc bike from the Hero brand is priced around Rupees 37,900. The HF Deluxe model is priced Rupees 40,200 to 44,100 and the HF Deluxe Eco Rupees 46,260. The HF Dawn and the Deluxe are powered by 97 cc, 7.8 ps engines and give mileages of 73 kmpl, The ground clearances of the HF bikes are 165 mm and weights around 109 kg.
