The government may introduce a bill of triple talaq in the Lok Sabha during the ongoing Winter Session and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj may give some explanations over the Kulbhushan Jadhav controversy meeting with wife and mother in Pakistan prison.

Triple Talaq Bill To Be Introduced In Lok Sabha

List of business reveals Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad could introduce Thursday The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill, which has been prepared by an inter-ministerial group headed by Home Minister Rajnath Singh to make divorce in the religious set format illegal and void.

The discussions will carry out whether instant triple talaq or talaq-e-biddat in any form including through email or WhatsApp by the Muslim husband could be illegal and lead to a jail term of three years. It could also result with fine that would be decided by the magistrate hearing the case.

The bill has already been cleared by the Union Cabinet and was to be listed for introduction in Lower House about a week ago.

Meanwhile, the Opposition Congress party has strongly protested treatment of Jadhav’s wife and mother in Pakistan by the authorities. Swaraj is expected to make a statement in this regar in Lok Sabha as well as Rajya Sabha tomorrow.

The former naval officer was arrested last year and is serving death sentence by the Pakistan military court alleged to be spying.
