Yogi approves longest expressway connecting Prayagraj with western UP

Uttar Pradesh is set to get two new expressways and one is to be counted as the longest in the world, about 600-km long.

Known as the Ganga Expressway, the longest expressway is to connect Prayagraj with western districts of UP. It will touch Pratapgarh, Rae Bareli, Unnao, Kannauj, Hardoi, Farrukhabad, Shahjahanpur, Badaun, Bulandshahr and Amroha.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath president a meeting Tuesday and approved the construction of Ganga Expressway saying it would be the longest of its kind in the world. It will provide better connectivity of Prayagraj with western districts.

Yogi said, “This will be world’s longest expressway, approximately 600 km, it will take 6,556 hectares of land, it will cost approximately Rs 36,000 crore.”

The Ganga Expressway will be four-laned with the option of expanding it to six-lane. It will require 6,556 hectares of land and to be built at the cost of Rs 36,000 crore.

The other proposed connectivity project is Bundelkhand expressway, which would also be four-laned and access-controlled highway. It will start from Jhansi and to pass through 182 villages. It will be 296.26 km long and to cover 3641.62 hectares of land.

The Yogi government has released Rs 640 crore to expedite land acquisition and make payments to the land owners.
